This video is an illustration of how we dock
Rottweiler puppy tails. While there is some controversy associated with tail
docking, many of the arguments both for and against are unfounded. Below are
some links to educational material on the topic.
Tail docking is best done under 1
week of age and preferably at 3 days. The amputation process from beginning
until end usually takes approximately 1 minute. (slowed down for illustration)
During this time a puppy typically does show signs of discomfort, but almost
immediately upon completion becomes quiet and content.
We have seen no long term negative
effects from tail docking, nor have we ever had a puppy that didn't heal
quickly t the point of amputation.
